Hotel Rural. Casa Florencio

This blog Hotel Rural Casa Florencio has completed its first year of life recently, is a limited space in which, as they say, "are not all they are, but if all they are." Because it is fair that the vast majority of clients (now friends) who have honored us with their presence are, reallylovely people . Of which leaves its mark on the heart and we rejoice when many of them return to visit us.

Iyar Yala and Trujillo in the courtyard of Casa Florencio

In this space we have already echoed some of those friends who have demonstrated their recognition, but we can not but mention with special love to all those who, being the smallest, have made the hole bigger. In this endearing group belong Yala and Iyar, with his recent stay, have joined Angela and Sofia repeaters and añoradosJuanito recordadísimos and Nicholas, Candela, Roberto, and Ana Belen, Christine, brothers David and Sergi ... and how many children have demonstrated the warmth of education and parents with their own behavior.

Some great little friends Florencio House
Lucky? I honestly do not believe. Rather reciprocity. Natural selection of an establishment that has resisted lowering the quality of what it offers, as an inevitable consequence for those who have been swept by the tsunami of "crazy discount."

In various professional forums and business owners of rural tourism establishments is open and heated debate about the problems is the confusion generated by the label "RURAL" , in very different types of establishment. Defining chaos, coupled with the general economic situation has become synonymous with tourism "bargain" and "Baratero" to a broad market sector and therefore subject to speculative price auctions do not take into account the value of the obvious differences in quality, facilities and services between housings and others.

This growing trend is a cause and effect of a significant segment of travelers who seek to "gain the troubled waters" and, with its pressure, are taking over the management of many entrepreneurs who should never give up that responsibility.

In CASA FLORENCIO we have chosen to be more selective and not "fill at any price", although we have adjusted our prices responsibly regular offerings to the circumstances. We continue to receive quality friends ... even smaller quantity.

We can not ignore that for us, FLORENCIO HOUSE is not a business or even a job, even if it means a lot to do. It is a way of life, which, as individuals, we like to engage with lovely people that appreciates and values the whole of what we offer here.

Time will prove us right ... or not. But in any case, we can prevent as much as we enjoyed making satisfies enjoy.

González de Fauve includes, in his study of the monastery of Aguilar de Campo, several news documentaries in which (from 1175 to 1225 approximately) is the monastery acquired estates certain individuals in the Vérez Quintanilla. Among the characters who sign one of these documents (particularly that of 1195) will appear Sunday Abbad de Quintanilla, and after another cleric and a deacon.

The building's architectural features as the main structure has a rectangular box consisting muraria navedividida one in two sections of unequal length and rectangular single head. Belfry and also has access to her body attached to its northern side, in the southern sacristy, attached to the head-external ossuary on the south side, between the first and second section of the nave and north porch attached to the supported by a right foot shoe on wooden parapet. Outwardly this internal partitioning is not noticeable because it has a very linear longitudinal development, with nave and at the same height. All this, with the exception of the porch, worked with a great yellow ashlar sandstone grain and fine grain.
Inside-completely whitewash with cutting of blocks in blue and yellow line socket to observe certain aspects which alone indicate that we have a temple that has been, throughout its long history, transformations. In this regard indicate that at deck level there are several solutions: from the use of the starry vault in the second bay of the nave and apse to the pointed barrel vault in the stretch of the feet, through the simple cover timber in the sacristy, in this case with plaster-and atrium. The current boot cover reused on the wall of an earlier one.
The last witness of the constructive remodeling is found in the brackets. On the outside corner buttresses the existence of the header (just like in San Cebrian Muda) and sacristy, others of different profiles and thicknesses, dot the walls of the nave. Inside are pilasters, brackets, angles, and a half columns attached to the arch height of the first stage in order to counteract the pressures of covering the first section of the ship.
Outside, on the western gable is cut out the silhouette of the gable articulated in two trim levels based simply nacelle. The double bottom and the top pointed vain with a single span and crowned pinion pointed nacelle. With the exception of the steeple and cover the rest of the openings or open windows in the building late bills have different types (ogee arches, arrow slits, rectangular, etc).

We are thus faced with a virtually rebuilt building in which the remains of an early Romanesque structure are almost accidental. Traces of the original Romanesque building from the late twelfth or early thirteenth appear only in the walls of the section of the foot of the nave, belfry, north wall and the interior of the apse where they seem to reuse some blocks. Both renovated sacristy as the court already belong to other phases much later made from the eighteenth century to the present day. The building underwent an overhaul between the XIV and XVII, a special patent renewal in the header and the second installment of the ship.
In the words of García Guinea, the church of San Martín de Quintanilla of a monument Berzosa is interesting because it tangibly see the impact of the constructive idea with new inventive Romanesque Gothic, very slowly and overcoming traditional forces, will replace the old structure of the eleventh and twelfth centuries ....

Romanic. Renedo de la Inera

There are few historical records of these people who have survived. In medieval times it was possible Aguilar village as with its neighbors Rebolledo and the inertia of Valdavia Pomar. In the church was included in the vicariate of Aguilar, itself dependent on the diocese of Burgos.
ARCHITECTURE

The parish church of the inertia Renedo one cruise ship and not come to join the group called by Garcia Guinea as churches of the council.
In this building reforms can be seen at various times whose chronology is difficult to pin down.Strictly Romanesque, late XII, we can consider the header and the belfry, as the ship is divided into two sections, is already covered with vault with tiercerons. The header consists of a semicircular apse covered with oven and chancel vault with a pointed barrel vault springing from an impost of nacelle. The triumphal arch, also pointed and bent, is based on twin columns and bases of tabs.
On the outside, the apse has two rectangular buttresses reach the ledge thus divided into three vertical panels. In the central open a window blind today-in arch supported by columns. A sill height fascia runs a cavetto that embraces the entire perimeter apse.
The north wall had to suffer a crash that forced rebuild masonry in uncertain times.
At the foot of the temple stands the belfry with two windows and finish straight. A line indicates trim fascia and the drip of the arches.
The entrance to the church is through a porch added on the side of the cover letter that encompasses a very remade with a pointed arch.

SCULPTURE

The sculptural decoration of the temple is located in the apse window, the columns of the triumphal arch and corbels of the cornice.
The window consists of two archivolts beater rods in between columns resting on crochet hooks provided, similar to the inertia and Rebolledo Matalbaniega.
The triumphal arch is supported by paired columns topped by capitals sides doubles. On the left is decorated with crochets and human heads, while the right one does it with another head between motifs.
As for the corbels, the majority are nacelle, however, find any rolls, staggered rectangles and bow of boat.

Revilla de Pomar. Cantohito Menhir

Singing Menhir Hito.

The roads where the plateau is close, we return to resume the path of standing stones and started some time ago. In Valdeolea menhirs, we were easily seen with a alignment by proximity.

Archaeologists Castellanos, Miguel Angel Moreno, and Germain put us Delibes on the trail of a greater dimension in this alignment. And indeed, if we use the information available at www.megalitos.es, conducted by the former, we see the continuation of this trace to the province of Burgos.

Alignment of menhirs

The meeting with the Landmark Singing spectacular monument was completely accidental.Staying at the near-Casa Revilla de Pomar Florencio. In a lively conversation after dinner with the owners of the hotel, came to the fore the issue of menhir. Although it was near midnight, the next day I get up early for other matters, so I decided to visit him at the time. - The header photo is from that visit-
This picture tries to reflect the feeling to meet the huge rock, is a kind of defiance amid the moor iergue watching impassively as the stars revolve around it from its more than 3 meters in height. Immediately we wonder about its meaning, after all is a symbol, and our curiosity drives us to try to decipher it. For this we turn to the little information we have. Before referred to the article and Moreno Gallo and Delibes de Castro. It presents the results of the excavation of a site near Landmark Canto similar characteristics. In this place "The cost of the mill", we find the remains of a menhir-like hand. In this place was built a burial mound that gives us additional information.

It's amazing how they put these people care for thousands of years that his work will endure.Digging into the base has discovered the foundation of the monument. This is a recess cut into the limestone soil of the moor for good vertical lift of rock.

Foundations of Menhir. Cuesta del Molino.
(Moreno Gallo, Delibes de Castro 2006)

The dating of the menhirs is an uncomfortable task for archaeologists, as it simply rocks that rise above the ground. If additional elements are not the dating is uncertain.

In this case,-The-Mill hill, in the excavation of the mound were found human remains and charred fragments at the base of the menhir. With the C14 dating of these remains, as well as ceramic fragments, one can deduce an age of 4000 years for the monument.

Undoubtedly these stones visible at a great distance were not randomly located, marked an important place for the builders. I think we can see two ways, either the place has a harmony of telluric forces, which for those people in close contact with nature were evident and so marked and used to deposit their dead. Or wanted to give the place a special significance, such as a territorial marker, lifting their stone symbols, and buried there at the most relevant to your clan. Everyone thinks what they like, I say.

Regardless of objective considerations, the place is captivating, and the night visit alone an unsettling experience.

Rocky church. Olleros de Pisuerga

The cave church of Pisuerga Olleros is another jewel of this architecture that fills our environment. Located about 9 km from Aguilar de Campo, we can consider it framed in our territory. Just in 40 minutes we come from Polientes, very short distance by the time you're on vacation.

For your visit we have the phone 979122385 / 61955681 to contact. The summer hours are 11.00-14.00 and 17.00-20.00. It belongs to the province of Palencia, but it is as if Valderredible related.

Unlike Valderredible the Ebro river near here is the Pisuerga. Your environment is more Castile and Cantabria, so if the same is wealdense rock (sandstone).

Its location, its surroundings, is the most beautiful I've seen. Perched high above the town, served as a refuge for Christian communities used this cave for protection. On the way to church we see a small bell tower that was built to defend the established community in height.

At the time could expect to live 40 people in the cave. This architecture makes us to show patience and hard work of all these people who for centuries were working the rock to get to build what has now come to our hands.

At all times was reflected as a place of protection from persecution, there is even an area inside where the fire lit to avoid being seen from outside. It is perfectly clear the original point of the cave and from where it was digging into the centuries. How far we are today, this slow pace of construction!

By entering three columns highlight that support the construction. The guide told us that only one of them is original, the other two have been reshaped by erosion. The church is beautiful, the color of the sandstone is fascinating, columns and arches are simply wonderful.
Currently holds worship, we added that reviewing all the church has undergone since the first settlers there in the eighth century were installed inside. The small altar, the baptismal font, the arches ... all this is shaping a unique temple. Duante all these movements of settlers migrated-IX-X centuries, were installed around this environment of northern Palencia Valderredible and many groups fleeing Muslim Spain.
We went to the choir, the views from the high even better perspective. They are perfectly the recesses in the rock to support the second floor that had at the time the cave. Always wanted to sleep in the high heat conservation, numerous holes are carved in the rock samples from the second floor.
We can observe from the choir added all that history has been accumulating since the tenth century: Bobeda barrel apses, columns ... This forms one of the most beautiful sets hypogeum seen in the area.
The temple is complemented by two lauras coming, a necropolis of anthropomorphic tombs carved into the contours of the temple-rock, all, forming one of the nicest places I've seen the rock in the area.
We're talking about a hermit sets for its location and construction, we can not miss our visit to southern Cantabria. A new example of these architectures cave never cease to amaze and astonish. A cultural tourism / sustainable gives us experiences and feelings that we nourish the spirit.
Fascinating story that leads us how they were hiding refuge and later already showed these early Christians to retreat to these environments. A fascinating era that we must know, preserve, protect and disseminate to remain part of our historical memory.
A jewel that we have a step!

Asador Gasolina. Cervera de Pisuerga

Original Entry:  http://viajeporfrancia.blogspot.com

We went for a mountain road towards Palencia capital and calling fuimso grills, looking where we give lamb and pork . In the end what the pig might not be in any of the phones we had gotten, so I decided to find somewhere to eat in Cervera del Pisuerga . On the way stop at the viewpoint of high Piedrasluengas port from which you see a valley full of oaks.

Cervera we ended up in one of the grills which had telephoned that he had a somewhat unfortunate name, Gas Grill xD. The food was acojonante. In next few peppers stuffed with mushrooms and Buyo and I shared second quarter of lamb DO Castilla León , Bea a beef entrecote sauce with mushrooms and some lamb chops Rosa. Needless to say, the next was very very rich, but the lamb was sublime. The best I have ever melted in the mouth and the skin was crispy and did as layers.
